Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said the fire at the Deonar dump yard is sheer carelessness on the part of contractors responsible for managing the dump. 

Speaking on the Deonar dumping ground issue, Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said that the government has taken this very seriously. He said new solid waste management techniques will come into force soon.

Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that water needs to be used efficiently and for that the Centre is making various efforts.


Massive fire has engulfed Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand following which over 1500 villages are at risk. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has said he has asked to deploy more than 10,000 employees to put out the Uttarakhand forest fire in three-four days. 

Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that more than 90 percent of the Uttarakhand forest fire has been doused off. He also said that situation will be completely under control within two days.
