The political clash between the Congress and the Narendra Modi-led government intensifies after the Delhi Police registered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in connection with the October 6 INDIA bloc protest and alleged forced entry into Akashvani Bhawan. The FIR has triggered a sharp response from the Congress, with the party accusing the government of attempting to suppress its protest over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Jairam Ramesh has escalated the attack, accusing PM Modi, Amit Shah and the Chief Election Commissioner of being involved in what the party calls a “vote chori” conspiracy.

Rahul Gandhi has rejected Home Minister Amit Shah’s offer of a detailed debate over the student protest issue. Rahul Gandhi said the Opposition was not looking for a “lecture” and continued to demand answers over the alleged police action against student protesters. The Congress leader also clashed with reporters while being questioned about the continuing Parliament logjam, asking why the media interrupts Opposition leaders but, according to him, does not do the same with government leaders. Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also hit back at questions from reporters, questioning the government over the continuing standoff.
