Israel says it has killed Nihad Riyad Abd al-Rahim Arouq, whom the Israeli military identifies as a Hamas Shati Battalion platoon commander. The IDF claims he took part in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and had recently been training Hamas fighters and helping plan attacks on Israeli troops. The strike comes as Israel intensifies military operations across Gaza. A senior Israeli military officer says Israeli forces now control more than 60&#37 of the Gaza Strip, while additional strikes are reported in Gaza City, Khan Younis and the Nuseirat refugee camp.    

Fresh Israeli strikes have hit Gaza, with the IDF saying it eliminated Hamas naval squad commander Osama Naim Hamdi Shamlakh in Gaza City. The military also says three armed Hamas operatives were killed in a separate operation in northern Gaza. Meanwhile, Palestinian officials report that Israeli strikes in Jabalia killed several people, including the director of the Jabalia police station. The latest attacks come as tensions continue despite the ceasefire.
