Ram Charan Visits Siddhivinayak: Actor Ram Charan visited Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai on October 4 and was seen walking barefoot. He arrived at Mumbai airport on October 3. The actor is observing a 41-day fast as a part of his annual Ayyappa Deeksha ritual, post which he will visit the Sabarimala Temple. He was dressed simply in a black shirt and pants along with a shawl. Ram Charan and his father, megastar Chiranjeevi, are devotees of Lord Ayyappa. As per the tradition, devotees, who follow Ayyappa Deeksha before their winter visit to the Sabarimala Temple, wear only black clothes and walk barefoot. They're not permitted to shave their beards or cut their hair during this period. The person observing this ritual has to sleep on the floor and indulge in no worldly pleasures.

The Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which falls in the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar, marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati. Also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, the festival is characterised by the installation of Ganesha idols at homes and in gilded pandals (make-shift stage). The 10-day festival ends with the idols taken for Visarjan through elaborate immersion processions. The idols are immersed on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.
