India and Australia have taken their strategic partnership to a new level with a landmark uranium export agreement, a major infrastructure investment announcement and renewed commitments to deepen cooperation across trade, clean energy and technology. The headline development is Australia's decision to strengthen uranium exports to India, a move expected to support India's expanding civilian nuclear energy programme and long-term clean energy ambitions. The agreement further cements the growing strategic relationship between the two Indo-Pacific partners. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the "living bridge" of India-Australia ties, praising his role in strengthening people-to-people connections and expanding economic engagement between the two countries. Modi, in turn, called the bilateral relationship a source of "historic opportunities" spanning energy, technology, infrastructure and innovation. The visit also witnessed a major financial commitment from AustralianSuper, Australia's largest pension fund, which announced an investment of A$500 million in India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. A dangerous new showdown has erupted between President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei over Tehran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile. Trump vowed that the United States would eventually “get” Iran’s uranium and even hinted that Washington could destroy the material after seizing it. The explosive remarks came after reports that Iran’s top leadership ordered the country’s near-weapons-grade uranium stockpile to remain inside the country, rejecting Western pressure to export the material abroad. Tehran fears surrendering its uranium would leave Iran vulnerable to future military action by the US and Israel.
