Donald Trump’s Russian diesel deal sparks a fresh diplomatic showdown as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky calls the move a “gift to Putin.” Trump says Russia will release 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately, followed by 500,000 tonnes in November and further supplies thereafter. The reported agreement also includes a temporary suspension of US sanctions on Russian diesel exports. The US has previously threatened tariff measures against countries importing Russian oil, including India. Zelensky warns that revenue from Russian fuel sales could help Moscow sustain its war against Ukraine. 

The IDF says it has eliminated Ibrahim Mustafa Suleiman Abu Oweimer, a Nukhba platoon commander in Hamas’ military wing, in Gaza. According to the Israeli military, Abu Oweimer infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7, 2023 attack and was involved in subsequent attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops. The IDF also claims that Abu Oweimer was involved in efforts to restore Hamas’ military capabilities in Gaza and continued advancing attacks despite the ceasefire. Israel says he was targeted and eliminated in Gaza to remove the threat he posed.
