PM Modi attended a programme marking 'Veer Baal Diwas 2023’ at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam on Dec 26. Last year, on the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, PM Modi announced that Dec 26 would be marked as 'Veer Bal Diwas'. The day honours the sacrifices of “Sahibzade”, four sons of Guru Gobind Singh. The youngest sons Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh were bricked alive in a wall. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said their sacrifices are not only being remembered in India but also globally through programmes in countries like the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Govt would also organise participatory events across India to inform people about the courage of Sahibzade.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with Governor Ramesh Bais paid floral tributes to the Bravehearts at Martyrs' Memorial on the premises of the Police Commissioner's Office in Mumbai on November 26. Today, it marks the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attack. Commonly referred to as 26/11, these coordinated assaults by a group of 10 terrorists did mayhem on the streets of Mumbai and sent shockwaves through the nation and the world. Terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group had entered the city of Mumbai on the night of November 26, 2008. Over the course of four days, they killed 166 people and injured 300.

26/11 Anniversary: To Mark the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, a day-long poster exhibition was organised in Geneva on November 24. The demonstration was held at the broken chair in front of the United Nations. The posters depict the gruesome 2008 Mumbai attacks when 10 members of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai. The 26/11 Mumbai attacks have been considered as one of the most brutal attacks on any Indian city in the past decades. In the horrific incident, 10 terrorists infiltrated Mumbai from Pakistan through sea route, carried out a series of attacks killing 175 people. The attackers targeted prominent locations like Leopold Cafe, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, The Trident Hotel, and the Nariman House. In an interview with ANI on Nov 16, Israeli President Isaac Herzog recalled 26/11 Mumbai attacks and drew parallels with Oct 07 Hamas attack. President Herzog extended his gratitude to India for their shared interests and efforts to combat terrorism. The Hamas attacks in Israel on October 07 were widely condemned globally. PM Modi was among the first leaders to strongly condemn the “terrorist attack” and expressed solidarity with Israel. On Oct 7, over 2000 Hamas terrorists breached Israeli borders and carried out a horrific terror attack, killing over 1400 people. In retaliation, Israel launched a strong counter-offensive targeting Hamas units in Gaza.

The wreath-laying ceremony of slain head constable Ghulam Mohd Dar who succumbed to his injuries after being fired by terrorists was held in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on October 31. Kashmir police said that injured police personnel, a resident of Wailoo Kralpora was killed by terrorists outside his house. The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by senior police officials and locals. Following the incident, security officials cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

Flash floods have wreaked havoc in the north-eastern state of Sikkim. As per Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, the death toll from flash floods in Sikkim has reached 26. A total of 142 people have been reported missing. Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang visited flood-affected areas of Mangan’s Naga Village and interacted with the victims of flood. The Mangan district has been allotted a relief package of Rs 25 crore. NDMA, SSDMA personnel and dedicated volunteers are tirelessly engaged in rescue and relief operations. As per an SSDMA report, 2,413 people have been rescued, and 1,203 houses have been damaged. CM Tamang chaired a high-level meeting at his official residence in Mintokgang on Oct 05.
