Each year, cultural performances form a part of the Republic Day parade at the Kartavya path in Delhi. This year too, on the occasion of Republic Day 2024, the Republic Day parade 2024 saw a group consisting of 1500 dancers giving the message of unity in diversity. The grand performance included 30 folk dance styles uniquely prevalent in different states of the country. 120 dancers also donned masks related to various tribal and folk performing arts and 120 dancers performed dances with traditional umbrellas and other artistic objects from Gujarat, Manipur, Kerala and Maharashtra. Earlier in the ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag at Kartavya Path.

Delhi will soon host the much anticipated G20 Summit. No stone is being left unturned to prepare Delhi for the upcoming event. The international guests are set to arrive soon, staff of luxury hotels is working tirelessly to ensure their stay is ‘homely’. Special attention is being given to the cuisine, with over 120 chefs working at the Taj Hotel alone. A menu with over 500 dishes is being prepared with a number of fusion dishes. The Taj has added some millet-based dishes to the menu in line with 2023 being International Year of Millets. Over 30 luxury hotels will host the delegates during the course of the Summit in Delhi. Notably, the summit will be held on Sept 09 and Sept 10. India's presidency of the G-20 began on 1 December 2022 when it took over from Indonesia in Bali.

In what is claimed to be India’s biggest drug haul in terms of monetary value, NCB seized drugs worth 15,000 crores off the Kochi coast. The seizure was part of ‘Operation Samudragupt’ targeting maritime drug trafficking. 134 sacks of suspected Methamphetamine were recovered from a ship. As per Deputy Director-General of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the source of the drugs is Pakistan. One person, suspected to be a Pakistan national, was arrested by the agencies and an investigation is on.

Under its evacuation mission 'Operation Kaveri ', India has set up a transit facility at Jeddah and all the Indians have been taken to the Saudi Arabian city after their evacuation from Sudan.The first batch of 278 Indians were evacuated by Indian Navy's frontline ship INS Sumedha on Tuesday. Hours later, the first C130J heavy-lift transport aircraft of the IAF landed at Port Sudan to bring back more Indians. It was followed by evacuation by another C130J. According to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, the first C-130J aircraft brought to Jeddah 121 passengers while the second plane evacuated 135.

The Indian stock market rallied for the fourth straight session on September 13. At 9.23 am, the Sensex traded at 60,454.35 points, up 339.22 points or 0.56 percent, while the Nifty traded at 18,040.85 points, up 104.50 points or 0.58 percent. Among the Nifty 50 companies, 47 advanced and the rest three declined this morning, National Stock Exchange data showed. Prior to last Thursday, the benchmark indices - Sensex and Nifty - fell for two sessions on the likelihood of aggressive rate hikes in the US to fight inflation as indicated by the US Federal Reserve.
