Nitish Kumar’s Speech: African-American singer slams Nitish Kumar’s remark

African-American singer Mary Millben on Nov 08 slammed Nitish Kumar for his derogatory remarks in the state assembly. Millben then called on a “courageous” woman to “step up” and declare her candidature for Bihar Chief Minister. She also lauded the Indian Prime Minister saying that he stands for women and is the best leader for India and the progress of Indian citizens. Millben made the remarks while reacting to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s use of derogatory language in the state assembly to explain the role of education and women in population control. Soon after Nitish Kumar’s speech, massive outrage erupted as several BJP leaders blasted on the CM and asked his resignation.

AU Chairperson Azali Assoumani on inclusion as G20 permanent member

The head of the African Union (AU) was moved to tears when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the regional bloc's inclusion in G20 forum during the 18th summit in New Delhi on Saturday. On 9th September, Prime Minister Modi had announced that the African Union (AU) had become the second group, following the European Union (EU), to secure permanent membership in the global forum. He underscored the importance of the AU's inclusion, emphasizing its role in amplifying the voice of the Global South and providing it with the platform it rightly deserves. While speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, the President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union (AU), Azali Assoumani said that India is the 5th superpower in the world, and India is ahead of China now.

G20 Summit 2023: African Union joins G20, PM Modi uses 'Bharat' placard

During PM Modi’s inaugural speech at the G20 Summit 2023 in Delhi, the placard naming the country read ‘Bharat’. The African Union, a body of 55 member countries, on Saturday formally joined the G20, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing its entry to the grouping and other leaders agreeing to it. PM Modi invited AU president Azali Assoumani to take his place as a member on the G20 leaders’ table, hugged him and welcomed him to the G20. Addressing the opening session of the 18th Summit of G20 leaders, PM Modi flagged the “big crisis of trust deficit” the world is facing, which, he said, has deepened due to the [Russia-Ukraine] war. He also expressed grief over the lives lost due to the earthquake in Morocco, saying that that the entire world community stands with Morocco in this difficult time. PM Modi said that the 21st century is an important time to show new direction and to give new direction.

Kuno National Park: Eighth Cheetah found dead in 4 months

Another Cheetah named ‘Suraj’ died in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park. Eight Cheetahs have died at the national park since their translocation. Postmortem is being conducted on Suraj’s carcass to ascertain the cause of death. Earlier on July 11, a cheetah named ‘Tejas’ died in MP’s Kuno National Park due to injuries. Notably, PM Modi released 8 Cheetah brought from Namibia on Sept 17, 2022 to establish a viable cheetah population. In February 2022 again, 12 cheetahs from South Africa were translocated to Madhya Pradesh's Kuno.

Cheetah cub ‘Jwala’ at Kuno National Park dies

A cheetah cub ‘Jwala’ died at Kuno National Park of Madhya Pradesh on May 23 due to immense weakness. Veterinary doctors took the cub to a hospital, however, after 5-10 minutes it died. Further details of the cause of death can be given after the post-mortem. These cheetahs were brought from Namibia and South Africa. On April 24, a male cheetah ‘Uday’ died in Kuno National Park. Uday was among the first batch of 12 cheetahs that were brought from South Africa on Feb 2023.

12 big cats from South Africa at Kuno Park, total count touches 20

India welcomed the second lot of Cheetahs as the South African big cats landed in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on February 18.  With the arrival of 12 more Cheetahs under ‘Project Cheetah’, Kuno National Park has become home to 20 fastest land animals. The spotted beauties flew from Africa on February 17 and were transferred on Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster Cargo. 12 Cheetahs were released in Sheopur’s Kuno National Park by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Calling it a Mahashivratri gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM expressed his gratitude With aim to provide more time to the new members of the Cheetah family for their acclimatisation, the big cats will be quarantined for 30 days as per the international protocol. The move will not only effect the habitat but has already started showing a much-needed change among the people on wildlife.  India’s first batch of 8 Cheetahs that were welcomed in September last year and were released by PM Modi. India is aiming to get a total of 100 Cheetahs from Africa as part of its Cheetah Project.

India ready to welcome 12 more Cheetahs at Kuno National Park from South Africa

12 Cheetahs all set to reach India on February 18 from South Africa. They will join 8 cheetahs from neighbouring Namibia. The animals were sedated and loaded into crates. 7 males, 5 females cheetahs South Africa has promised India. Cheetahs loaded onto Galaxy Globemaster C17 of IAF. Aircraft is expected to reach Madhya Pradesh at around 10 am. Cheetahs will be released at Kuno National Park in Gwalior. They will be kept in quarantine enclosures for 30 days.
