At the DIG Mahakumbh, a large crowd gathered between 1 am and 2 am on the Akhara Marg before Brahma Muhurta. Due to the overcrowding, barricades broke, and people rushed over to the devotees waiting for their holy dip. As a result, 30 people tragically lost their lives, while 90 others were injured and taken to the hospital. Out of the deceased, 25 have been identified, with 4 from Karnataka, 1 from Assam, and 1 from Gujarat. 36 injured people are being treated at a local medical college. The situation is now under control, and CM Yogi Adityanath has asked saints and Akharas to delay their holy dip for the convenience of the devotees. The Akharas’ Amrit Snan has been completed safely.
