Israel has announced that it will start the desalination program in Lakshadweep on Jan 09. It will be a major milestone for Lakshadweep’s development amid India-Maldives diplomatic row. On Jan 08, Israel Embassy in India took to ‘X’ and said “Israel is ready to work on this project tomorrow”. Meanwhile, ‘Lakshadweep vs Maldives’ debate continues after Maldivian MP’s derogatory remarks against PM Modi. These remarks came after PM Narendra Modi’s photos, videos of Lakshadweep's visit went viral on social media. Maldivian High Commissioner to India was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs on January 08. Online travel solutions provider, EaseMyTrip announced the suspension of Maldives flight bookings from Jan 08. Not only just influential Indians, Bollywood A-listers, but many Maldivian politicians also criticised MP’s derogatory remarks.
