A major controversy erupted during the 42nd anniversary of Operation Blue Star as pro-Khalistan slogans were raised inside the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. Activists from Dal Khalsa were also present carrying photographs linked to the 1984 events.

At least 14 people have died and 6 others are in the hospital after allegedly drinking spurious liquor in Majitha, Amritsar. Police have registered two FIRs under stringent laws and are conducting raids to trace the source of the illegal liquor.
