Following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case by ED, AAP workers have called for a 'gherao' outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, denouncing the arrest. Protesters voiced slogans against the detention. Delhi Police also detained Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains along with a few AAP workers who were protesting. Speaking on the AAP protest in Delhi today, party leader Reena Gupta said, "We demand that Arvind Kejriwal should be released immediately. His arrest is illegal. PM Modi is afraid and he wants Arvind Kejriwal to not campaign for the upcoming elections. Today we will protest and nobody can stop us."Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains lashed at ED for being biased and not arresting J.P. Nadda as he accused him of money money-trailing case. He further bashed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “I want to ask our Prime Minister why is he so scared of Arvind Kejriwal and along with him he is also scared of us because of which he has deployed so many security personnel throughout Delhi.”

AAP’s women workers in Delhi held a protest at the ITO foot over bridge on March 24 against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in the Excise Policy case. They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Enforcement Directorate. Delhi Police officials also intervened to control the situation. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21. A protestor said, “Arvind Kejriwal has done so much good work for the women of Delhi. Talking about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to run the government from jail, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on March 23 said that Arvind Kejriwal should resign from his position as Delhi Chief Minister on moral grounds of his arrest.“... The Court will decide if Arvind Kejriwal has taken any money or not, I cannot say anything on that... But when a person, especially a CM, is accused of corruption and says that he will run the government from jail and not resign, this indicates a very wrong trend... A person who taught honesty from 2011-14 and claimed that he is a ‘Kattar Imaandar’, is not displaying any basic elements of ethics... If he is honest, then he should resign... Running a government from jail is not legal and practically possible... On the basis of ethics and legalities, he (Arvind Kejriwal) should resign...”Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit also said that it would be better from an administrative point of view that he nominates someone else as the Delhi Chief Minister. “Whether he continues to be the CM and run the government from jail is AAP’s internal matter but there is no law that bans it. Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged excise policy scam, on March 23, issued a video statement on Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and reads out the CM's message from jail. "There are several forces within and outside India that are weakening the country. We have to be alert, identify these forces and defeat them...Women in Delhi must be thinking that Kejriwal is behind bars. Who knows if they would get Rs 1000. I appeal to them to trust their brother, their son. There is no jail that can keep him behind bars for long. I will come out soon and keep my promise," said Sunita Kejriwal.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM Kejriwal on March 23 in connection with the alleged Delhi Liquor scam case. The Rouse Avenue Court on March 22 sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28. The agency had sought 10 days of remand. The AAP Chief was produced before the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja. Senior Advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chaudhari, and Ramesh Gupta along with Advocates Rajat Bharadwaj, Mudit Jain and Mohd Irshad appeared for the Delhi CM Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal Arrest was executed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused interim protection to him from coercive action in connection with the excise policy case. The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case, sources said. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Arvind Kejriwali's arrest said, “A high-voltage drama is going on outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal. A celebration of corruption is going on... If their excise policy was so good, why was it cancelled? Why and how did you introduce cartelization in the whole process of liquor procurement? Why did he give contracts to his close ones? Initially, 5% commission was given, which was increased to 12%, and even 7% additional commission was received by him in the form of black money. There is no court left in this country that the AAP did not approach to spread their lies. Still, they did not get any relief from anywhere. Atishi says Arvind Kejriwal is not a person; he is an idea. I should say he is a bad idea."

In regards to the Elvish Yadav extortion Case, Gurugram Police on October 26 arrested a man from Gujarat. The accused, identified as Shakir Makrani, was a resident of Vadnagar. Speaking to ANI, Gurugram ACP Crime Varun Dahiya said, “Gurugram Police with cooperation from Gujarat Police has arrested one Shakir Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar. He was influenced by Yadav; to earn money he made this plan to make extortion call.”

Days after the tragic Balasore triple train accident, CBI arrested three railways officials on July 07. The central probe agency said that the accused have been arrested under sections 304, 201 of CrPC. The arrested railways employees have been identified as Arun Kumar Mahanta, senior section engineer; Amir Khan, section engineer; technician Pappu Kumar. CBI in its investigation found that the accused railway employees were also involved in the tampering of evidence. The arrested accused will be presented in the competent court and CBI will demand custody. The Railway Board had recommended a CBI probe into the accident following which on June 06. The CBI has already registered a First Information Report (FIR) in this matter. The horrific incident involving Coromandel Express, Shalimar Express and goods train claimed 291 lives and injured over 1000.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy case, after eight hours of questioning. Rapid Action Force was deployed outside the CBI Headquarters after the arrest. CBI on Dec 26 arrested Chairman of the Videocon Group Venugopal Dhoot, in connection with ICICI bank fraud case. Earlier, CBI arrested former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband on Dec 23 in connection the case. The Kochhars are currently being interrogated by the investigation agency after being presented in a Mumbai court on Dec 24. Chanda Kochhar is accused of favouring Venugopal Dhoot when she was heading the bank. The CBI alleged that ICICI Bank sanctioned a loan of Rs 3,250 crore to Videocon Group in violation of RBI’s Banking Regulation Act. In October 2018, Chanda Kochhar, stepped down as the CEO and MD of the bank following the allegations. In September 2020, the ED arrested Mr Kochhar as one of the main accused in the ICICI-Videocon loan case.
