India rejects

India rejects "absurd claims" & "baseless arguments" made by China

India has again rejected the "absurd claims" and "baseless arguments" made by China on Arunachal Pradesh. In a befitting reply to China on Arunachal, India asserted it to be an "integral and inalienable part of India". The MEA noted that people of Arunachal will "continue to benefit" from India's development programmes. Chinese Defence Ministry recently reiterated its claim over Arunachal Pradesh, terming the Indian State as “China’s inherent territory”. The Chinese military's comments came days after India rejected China’s remark on PM Modi’s visit to the northeast state. PM Modi on March 9 virtually inaugurated the strategic Sela Tunnel during an event held in the capital city of Itanagar. Further on March 15, Zhang said that China “firmly opposes India's illegal establishment of the so-called 'Arunachal Pradesh'”.

China includes parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin in new 'standard map'

China includes parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin in new 'standard map'

China on August 28 released its 2023 edition of ‘Standard Map’ which wrongly shows parts of India as Chinese territory. China’s ‘map game’ comes a week after PM Modi and Xi Jinping shared the stage at BRICS Summit in South Africa. The map released on August 28 showed Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin region as part of its territory. Meanwhile, China’s map provocation drew sharp criticism from defence expert Shiwalee Deshpande and Congress leader Manish Tiwari. The information regarding the latest ‘standard map’ was shared by China’s state owned media Global Times on platform X. China also staked claims on Taiwan and South China Sea and traversed the 9-dash line and made it 10-dash line. Notably, this Chinese provocation comes ahead of the crucial G20 meeting scheduled to be held in Delhi in September. Earlier this year, China unilaterally attempted to “rename” as many as 11 Indian locations. Previously in 2017 and 2021, China's Civil Affair Ministry had “renamed” other Indian locations triggering another political confrontation. However, on several occasions, New Delhi has called out China's expansionist policies and rejected its claims.
