The campaign was held against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Notably, Delhi CM was arrested on March 21 by the ED in connection with a money laundering case in the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam. “CM Arvind Kejriwal who worked to provide the best school, and free- electricity to Delhiites has been trapped in a frivolous case by BJP...From today onwards Sunita Kejriwal's roadshow will begin; she is going to seek support and blessings from the Delhi people to fight against this government...,” said Kuldeep Kumar.

Delhi BJP leaders and workers staged a protest near the AAP headquarters on April 10. BJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged excise policy scam. Recently, Kejriwal's plea against his arrest and remand in the excise policy of his government was rejected by the Delhi High Court on April 09. Aam Admi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has become the first sitting Chief Minister to be lodged in Tihar Jail. The Rouse Avenue Court sent AAP supremo to judicial custody till April 15 in the Delhi excise policy case. As per ED, Kejriwal was shown evidence of more than 10 meetings of Vijay Nair with other co-accused persons involved in liquor business. During hearing, ED told Court that Kejriwal had admitted Vijay Nair of reporting only to party leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj. Following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case by ED, AAP workers have called for a 'gherao' outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, denouncing the arrest. Protesters voiced slogans against the detention. Delhi Police also detained Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains along with a few AAP workers who were protesting. Speaking on the AAP protest in Delhi today, party leader Reena Gupta said, "We demand that Arvind Kejriwal should be released immediately. His arrest is illegal. PM Modi is afraid and he wants Arvind Kejriwal to not campaign for the upcoming elections. Today we will protest and nobody can stop us."Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains lashed at ED for being biased and not arresting J.P. Nadda as he accused him of money money-trailing case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a press conference on March 25, during the PC AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam. She said PM Modi is scared of Arvind Kejriwal as he is the only one who can challenge him so he wants to eliminate him. "BJP's political weapon ED arrested Kejriwal in a fake case. In a case which even after two years of investigation not even single Rupee proceeds of crime was recovered from any of the AAP leaders. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested after the ECI announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections in a case whose investigation has been on for two years ," said Atishi Marelna while addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Delhi.

Talking about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to run the government from jail, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on March 23 said that Arvind Kejriwal should resign from his position as Delhi Chief Minister on moral grounds of his arrest.“... The Court will decide if Arvind Kejriwal has taken any money or not, I cannot say anything on that... But when a person, especially a CM, is accused of corruption and says that he will run the government from jail and not resign, this indicates a very wrong trend... A person who taught honesty from 2011-14 and claimed that he is a ‘Kattar Imaandar’, is not displaying any basic elements of ethics... If he is honest, then he should resign... Running a government from jail is not legal and practically possible... On the basis of ethics and legalities, he (Arvind Kejriwal) should resign...”Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit also said that it would be better from an administrative point of view that he nominates someone else as the Delhi Chief Minister. “Whether he continues to be the CM and run the government from jail is AAP’s internal matter but there is no law that bans it. It will be better from an administrative point of view that he (Arvind Kejriwal) nominates someone else,” said Sandeep Dikshit.
