Rescue and search is operation underway in Ganderbal Nowgam area of Srinagar. 3 people are still missing in the boat capsizing incident that occurred in the Jhelum River yesterday. According to DC Srinagar, Six bodies have been found so far. Officials said that the rescue operation continued till 11 pm last night but was halted due to darkness and heavy water flow in the river Jhelum. On 16th of April, in a tragic accident a boat carrying school children overturned in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Srinagar Administration had launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children were found dead. 4 bodies were recovered, while others were missing. Continuous rains over last two days led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies, including Jhelum.

He said, "As part of the agitation that started at the Punjab-Haryana border on 13th February, we have called for 'Rail Roko' across the country today. We urge all farmers, labourers and common people of the country to support us in the 'Rail Roko' today in large numbers. We also urge those, who want to undertake train travel between 12 noon-4 pm today, to not do the same for four hours today. People might face a little inconvenience today. This is partial 'Rail Roko'."

So far, 16 bodies, among 20 people have been recovered from the Summer Hill area of Shimla. Over 70 people have lost their lives in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh due to the deadly monsoon. 19 August,2023 02:15 PM IST | MumbaiFour minor boys aged between 12 and 16 were feared drowned after five children who were sitting on the edge of the jetty at Juhu Koliwada, near Juhu beach, were washed away in a high tide on Monday evening. According to civic body officials, the minors hailed from Vakola and were on a visit to the beach. Officials also said that one boy was rescued by local fishermen and other residents. The rescued boy is said in a stable condition and was taken to the police station for further investigations. Authorities in Mumbai on Tuesday said that the rescuers have found the bodies of two of the four boys. Coastguard chopper was seen while the rescue operation for remaining two boys is still ongoing.
