The Bombay High Court's Goa bench has convicted former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal in the 2013 Goa sexual assault case, overturning his 2021 acquittal by a sessions court. After the conviction, Tejpal personally appealed to the court for leniency, saying, "I believe I am a victim." Outside court, he also alleged that the case was driven by political vendetta and claimed he was being targeted because of Tehelka's investigative reporting. The Goa government had challenged the 2021 acquittal, arguing that the trial court failed to properly appreciate key evidence, including an apology email. The High Court is now hearing arguments on the quantum of sentence.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has received permission from the Bombay High Court to file a civil defamation suit against Meta, Google, X and other entities over alleged defamatory posts and deepfake content linking him to the Centre's E20 ethanol-blending programme. The legal battle comes as a new online movement called the E20 Janta Party rapidly gains traction on social media. The digital campaign, inspired by the Cockroach Janta Party movement, is demanding the option of 100&#37 petrol and has also called for Gadkari's resignation. Gadkari has maintained that he had no role in implementing the E20 programme, saying it is administered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
