Western Railway completed the metal barrier fencing on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Railways route on March 13. The fencing has been done to curb the cattle run-over incidents. While speaking to the ANI, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that after the installation of the fence, the risk of cattle getting killed will be zero. "This is a very innovative design of fencing which has been put up from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. After the installation of this fence, cattle will not be able to come on the track and the risk of cattle getting killed will practically be zero. This innovation has been accepted by people as well. Due to this fence, the trains running between Mumbai to Ahmedabad can be taken to 160 km/hour,” said Ashwini Vaishnaw. The metal beam fencing is very robust as it consists of two W-beams. A W-beam type stands for wide flanges, which are thicker, and aid in resisting bend stress. Such fencing is used in highways & expressways, especially in accident-prone areas to protect vehicles as well as pedestrians.

As the interim budget for the financial year 2024-25 was rolled out on February 01, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC) Atul Keshap lauded US and India governments for their focus on iCET sectors and budget. Atul Keshap said, “First of all, I think this is a very confident, very sober and very pro-growth budget by the government of India, and I think it signals a real sense of optimism about the economic growth of the country. It sends a very strong signal to investors about the constancy of government policy. So I think it's very positive. And I congratulate the Finance Minister, her entire team and the government.” “So it actually details really nicely with iCET (Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology), which is the initiative on critical and emerging technologies that the two governments and the US chamber launched in January of 2023. So first, for instance, there's a $12 billion fund to help develop these so-called sunrise sectors of deep tech and future tech. And there's a lot of money as well on semiconductors. I think the government of India is showing great focus on artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other iCET sectors. I led an aerospace and defence mission last week, or rather this week, to Delhi, and we had really good and encouraging meetings. So I really applaud both the US and Indian governments for their focus on the iCET sectors and this budget. It proves that that focus is backed by real money,” he added.

We have been in the midst of negotiations since 2021 a set of agreements, the most important of which is a free trade agreement with the European Union. We also have, last year, set up, a trade and technology council, with the European Union. The EU only has 2 of these councils, one with the United States and one with India. The fact that the EU, the US, and India are today coordinating and cooperating very closely on technology matters is something which is very, important to recognize.” “We see very frankly very difficult times ahead, very turbulent times ahead. In the last 5 years the impact, on the global economy, certainly, but even on society of COVID has been very, traumatic. There are still many countries and many societies which have not recovered from it. We have seen, that progress in sustainable development goals, in many countries, has been rolled back, and many more countries today are facing, a financial economic crisis, and debt is a very big problem. Trade has been very challenging. We've had the conflict in Ukraine. In a globalized world, it has affected every part of the world,” he added. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar embarked his official visit to Portugal and Italy from October 31 to November 3.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to new recruits at the ongoing 'Rozgar Mela' which he attended on October 28 in Delhi. Till now, lakhs of youth have been given appointment letters for government jobs. Today, more than 50,000 youth have been given government jobs. Amid the Israel-Hamas war, the West and the Middle East are concerned about the growing conflict. The US has sent warships and fighter aircraft to the region over the last three weeks when the conflict started. Now the US has claimed that its troops have been attacked at least 12 times in Iraq, and 4 times in Syria in the past week. In retaliation, two US fighter jets struck weapons, and ammunition facilities in Syria on October 27. As per the Pentagon, the attacks were carried out on the orders of US President Joe Biden. The US launched airstrikes against the facilities used by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and militia, which it backs.
