The protest led by environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has entered a dramatic new phase after he was forced to shift to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital on the 21st day of his indefinite hunger strike, triggering fresh political questions over his treatment. Wangchuk, who has been fasting over issues including alleged examination paper leaks and student suicides, was moved from Jantar Mantar after Delhi Police said his deteriorating health required immediate medical attention. The hospitalisation, however, has sparked a fresh controversy after Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, publicly questioned the circumstances surrounding the transfer. She alleged that her husband should not have been hospitalised without consulting his family and claimed she was denied access to medical reports and was not allowed to carry her mobile phone inside the hospital. Angmo has further demanded that no oral or intravenous treatment be administered to Wangchuk without her prior consent and consultation with the family's doctors. Referring to constitutional protections, she cited Article 32 while questioning what she described as "forced treatment" and maintained that Wangchuk was stable before being shifted to the hospital. Mamata Banerjee has delivered a sharp political counterattack against the BJP, dismissing criticism over her age and asserting that she will continue fighting for the people despite the ongoing political turbulence within the Trinamool Congress. Addressing supporters, Mamata responded strongly to remarks made by her political opponents, declaring, "I will stay alive till I see your end," in what has become one of her strongest statements amid the escalating political confrontation in West Bengal. Rejecting suggestions that age should define political leadership, she argued that a leader should be judged by commitment, work and impact rather than years. WATCH
