Former Indian Skipper MS Dhoni filed criminal cases against his former business partners for an alleged fraud. MS Dhoni’s lawyer Dayanand Singh informed that CSK captain was allegedly duped by former ‘Ranji player’ of over 15 crore. He also alleged that the accused deceived MS Dhoni by saying that he would open cricket academies in his name. Dhoni filed a complaint in the Ranchi court against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of Arca Sports and Management Limited alleging discrepancies in a 2017 business transaction.

The Independent MP from Haryana talked tough about the ‘colonial laws’ formed under the leadership of Lord Macaulay and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for making the new laws possible. On December 20th, Home Minister Amit Shah had said that the new criminal law bills are in consonance with the spirit of the Constitution and have been brought keeping in mind the well-being of the people of the country. Amit Shah said the bills will encourage the use of technology in giving justice to people. He said "mob-lynching" had been included as an offence in the bills.

A new record was set up in the new Parliament building in this winter session as three key Bills - Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, 2023; the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023; and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023 - were passed which will completely overhaul the country’s criminal laws.
