Taking a jibe at Congress’ top leadership, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 30 called it a failed leadership. "The leadership of the Congress has completely failed and you must be seeing that their people are continuously leaving the field. At some places, their state president is resigning and at some places their declared candidates are themselves withdrawing their candidature and joining the BJP and at some places, they are deliberately filling out the nomination papers incompletely. The people of this country know the reality of the leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party and INDI alliance and the people of this country will never allow their plans to be fulfilled,” said CM Yogi. “There cannot be a bigger lie than this. Everyone is very well aware of the history of Congress and other INDI alliance parties. The history of Congress has been of strangulating the Constitution made by Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Constitution of the country came into force in 1950 and Congress has continuously trampled on the freedom of expression, it has continuously made efforts to change the Constitution in its own way. The people of the country have not forgotten the Emergency,” he added.

Amid Lok Sabha elections, an alleged sex scandal has stirred political controversy in Karnataka. Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged obscene video case involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Welcoming the SIT probe, JD(S) core committee chairman and senior leader GT Devegowda said that the party will call a meeting to discuss action on the issue. Amid the controversy, the BJP, which is an ally of JD(S) in Karnataka is smelling conspiracy over timing of the probe. A group of Congress workers held protest against the case. While Revanna is seeking a fresh term in the Lower House from Hassan as a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and is pitted against Congress' Shreyas Patel. Slamming Congress, UP CM said that the people who are rejecting EVMs today are the same people who used to loot ballots. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Whenever Congress, Samajwadi Party, or any other party associated with the INDI alliance is losing elections, they make every effort to blame the defeat on EVMs. This is not the first time; we have been hearing this continuously since 2014. We want to ask these people that the Congress government formed in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka last year, whether it was formed based on ballot paper? In 2009, the UPA government was formed at the Centre, was it made of ballot paper? AAP cadres staged a ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ campaign near Laxmi Nagar in Delhi on April 27. The campaign was held against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Businessman Narayana Murty cast his vote at the BES polling station in Bengaluru along with his wife and author Sudha Murty.
