Veteran actor and one of Bollywood's favourite 'moms', Sulochana Latkar has died. She was 94. Sulochana was known for her work in more than 200 Hindi films and many Marathi titles as well. She was a recipient of the civilian honour of Padma Shri. CM Eknath Shinde & Raj Thackeray paid tribute to the late actor Sulochana Latkar in Mumbai. Thousands of Central Railway (CR) commuters were stranded on Thursday as local train services were delayed due to a signal glitch between Dadar and Parel railway station during the morning rush hour. Due to a technical snag between Dadar and Parel railway station on fast track (line 06) in Mumbai, a number of passengers, mostly office-goers, got down from the coaches between Sion and Matunga railway station, and started walking along the tracks to reach their offices. Many commuters were seen changing trains on track, while a few boarded moving trains.

The civic body’s works over the past year seem to have given relief to citizens living in and commuting through the areas that are prone to chronic flooding between Dadar and Parel. Among those are Hindmata and King’s Circle, both of which were waterlogged on Tuesday after incessant downpour. But, once the rain stopped, both these spots were cleared of water, thanks to the holding tanks and water pumps. The BMC, however, faltered at one point the Milan subway. It was flooded like always and remained so even after the rain stopped, as the civic body forgot to install water pumps for the holding tank.

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) on 16th July caused waterlogging in several parts of the city. Waterlogging was reported from chronic spots of Dadar, Parel, Wadala, Sion, besides low-lying areas in Malad, Santacruz, Dahisar. The city has been experiencing moderate to intense spells of rain since 15th July night.

The Central Railway has increased the price of platform tickets for passengers at some key stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to avoid overcrowding during the upcoming summer season, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, an official confirmed on 2nd March. CR's chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar confirmed that a platform ticket now costs Rs 50 instead of the previous rate of Rs 10 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai, and neighbouring Thane, Kalyan, Panvel and Bhiwandi Road stations.
