Watch: Tejas MK-1A successfully completes its maiden flight

In a historic milestone, indigenous LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft on March 28 completed its first flight. The aircraft airborne for 15 minutes during its first maiden flight, as per Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Currently, two squadrons of IAF, 45 Squadron and 18 Squadron, are fully operational with LCA Tejas. HAL has current capacity to build 8 LCA aircraft per year, this is being increased to 16 aircraft's every year by 2025. In coming years the capacity will be further increased to 24 aircraft every year in the next 3 years. Over Rs 9000 crore have been sanctioned for the development of LCA Mk 2, an updated and advanced version of LCA Tejas. Earlier in the 2023, Air Chief Marshal stated that the Indian Air Force aims to replace the MiG-21 fighter jets with LCA Tejas.

Following the fourth round of meetings with the farming leaders in connection with the ongoing farmers protest 2024, the Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on February 19 that a detailed discussion was held with Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor. He further stated that the outcome of the meeting was very positive. We had a detailed discussion on how to carry forward the work done by PM Modi in the last 10 years, he further added. What is to be seen next is if the farmers will end their protest now. The protesting farmers were demanding implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pension for farmers and farm labourers, and withdrawal of police cases besides loan waiver and a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP).

Contradicting speculative news reports, US State Department confirms India-US

India's deal with the US of almost USD 4 billion, paving the way for the acquisition of 31 state-of-the-art MQ-9B Sky Guardian drones, will not only propel India's defence capabilities but also ensure a 16-fold increase in the number of aircraft, significantly enhancing New Delhi's maritime security beyond the current lease agreement. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller shed light on the recently approved foreign military sale of MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft to India. He said, "I cannot give a timeline. This was the initial step today. Notifying Congress of the exact timeline of the delivery is something that we will explore with the government of India over the coming months. "Highlighting the significance of the deal, Miller emphasised,"Almost USD 4 billion sale of 31 MQ-9B Sky Guardian aircraft will provide India with enhanced maritime security and maritime domain awareness capability. It offers India outright ownership and a 16-fold increase in the number of aircraft as compared to their current lease. "The Biden administration has today notified the US Congress of its intent to sell nearly 4 billion dollars worth of arms, comprising mainly MQ-9B drones armed with Hellfire missiles. The defence security cooperation agency, which is an agency within the US Department of Defence, said in a press release on Thursday that the sale helps in strengthening the US-Indian Strategic Relationship. It added that New Delhi continues to be an "important force for political stability, peace, and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia region." Watch the full video for more details!

Two workers who were trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel talk about their 17-day-long experience trapped in the tunnel following the Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue. The workers had a sigh of relief after the anxiety-filled initial 24 hours. Vishwajeet Kumar Verma and Subodh Kumar Verma expressed their gratitude to the rescuers and the government as well. Rescued worker Vishwajeet Kumar Verma said, "When the debris fell, we knew that we were stuck. For the first 10-15 hours we faced difficulty. But later, a pipe was put in to provide us with rice, dal and dry fruits. Later a mic was installed and I was able to talk to my family members...I am happy now, will celebrate Diwali now." "The first 24 hours were tough but after that food was provided to us through a pipe. Subodh Kumar Verma, another rescued worker said, “I am absolutely fine and in good health now…”.

Israel-Hamas Conflict: Israel and Hamas strike a deal, war to be paused

After a long haul of over 40 days, Israel and Hamas have agreed on a four-day ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The decision has been made to allow the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza in exchange for 150 Palestinians jailed in Israel. Other than that, the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip will also be allowed. Israel’s Government released a statement describing the conditions of the release of hostages. As per the statement, 50 women and children will be released over four days during which there will be a pause in fighting. Hamas said that they would release 50 hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinian women, children who are held in Israeli jails. However, Israel's PM Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that the country is still at war with Hamas. Other than Israelis, over half the hostages held foreign and dual citizenship from some 40 countries including US, Britain, France. According to the Israeli media, the first release of hostages is expected on November 23.

While addressing the rebranding event Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that we are fully committed to this journey to make Air India a world-class airline.
