On 24th of April, a gruesome murder took place near India Gate, New Delhi. A 25-year-old ice cream vendor named Prabhakar was stabbed to death during a fight near India Gate late Wednesday evening. A case of murder was registered under Section 302 IPC. The preliminary investigation suggests that Prabhat was selling ice cream when he had an argument with a customer over payment. The matter escalated and the accused stabbed Prabhat with a knife, before running away from the crime spot. Prabhat rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by the doctors. The police arrested the accused, who was on the run after identifying him with the assistance of CCTV cameras installed in nearby shops. He has been brought to the police station for further information.

TMC leaders including Mahua Moitra were detained after sitting on dharna at Krishi Bhawan. The Trinamool Congress had scheduled a meeting with the minister at the Krishi Bhavan, regarding the party's demand to release funds to West Bengal under the MGNREGA. Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Tuesday claimed that she waited for Trinamool Congress MPs in her office for over two hours. However, Trinamool Congress leaders claimed that Union minister had given them an appointment but did not meet them. The TMC delegation then sat on dharna, saying they won’t leave without meeting the minister. After some time, the delegation was forcibly removed from the site and detained.

As per preliminary investigation, the girl was attacked with a rod. At present, the accused has been arrested by the police. The soaring water level of River Yamuna continues to wreak havoc in parts of Delhi. On July 14, several areas of the National Capital were inundated, disrupting normal life in a fast-moving city. Owing to the floods in Delhi, 3 minors drowned to death while swimming in flooded waters in Delhi’s Mukundpur on July 14. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was quick to react to the mishap and called the incident ‘unfortunate’. Meanwhile, a total of 23,692 people were evacuated from the adjacent areas of the Yamuna River in Delhi. The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi decreased to 208.63 meters proving hope for people living in Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant on July 13. The Plant has currently been shut down owing to the rise in the water level of Yamuna river. "We are at the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant. For the first time in Delhi, Yamuna has touched this level. Three Water Treatment Plants have been shut down due to this as the water has entered pumps and machines. 25 per cent of the water supply in Delhi will go down due to this. The tubewells are closed too. There can be water scarcity for a day or two. I hope that the supply resumes by tomorrow evening," said Arvind Kejriwal while speaking to ANI. Several areas of Delhi are now under water as the water level of river Yamuna continues to rise. Heavy rainfall and the release of water from Hathnikund Barrage in neighbouring Haryana have swelled Yamuna.

A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Shahbad Dairy in Delhi. The accused has been identified as Sahil (20), a resident of Delhi. The gruesome incident was caught on camera installed in the lanes. The deceased were in a relationship but a spat broke out between the two on May 28. Minor girl was planning to attend her friend's son's birthday when Sahil intercepted, attacked her. He attacked her multiple times & hit her with a stone before leaving the spot. An FIR has been registered in this regard under section 302 IPC at Shahbad Dairy Police station.
