Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi Police detains AAP workers

Following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case by ED, AAP workers have called for a 'gherao' outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence, denouncing the arrest. Protesters voiced slogans against the detention. Delhi Police also detained Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains along with a few AAP workers who were protesting. Speaking on the AAP protest in Delhi today, party leader Reena Gupta said, "We demand that Arvind Kejriwal should be released immediately. His arrest is illegal. PM Modi is afraid and he wants Arvind Kejriwal to not campaign for the upcoming elections. Today we will protest and nobody can stop us."Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains lashed at ED for being biased and not arresting J.P. Nadda as he accused him of money money-trailing case. He further bashed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “I want to ask our Prime Minister why is he so scared of Arvind Kejriwal and along with him he is also scared of us because of which he has deployed so many security personnel throughout Delhi.”

Israel Embassy Blast: Delhi police intensifies probe after blast near in Delhi

On December 26th, the Delhi Fire Service received a call about a blast near the Israel Embassy in Chanakyapuri area. Delhi Police top officials, NIA team and Forensic Team soon reached the spot and investigated the matter. Israel Embassy confirmed that around 5:10 pm there was a blast at close proximity to the embassy. The Delhi Police has intensified its probe into a low intensity Israel embassy blast that occurred near the Israel Embassy here and sources said two youths were caught on camera walking on the road close to the spot shortly before the explosion. The police have also beefed up security in the national capital after Tuesday's blast near the embassy in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave, an official said.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Murder Case: Delhi Police Crime Branch detains three

In a major breakthrough in the Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Murder Case, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, detained three persons. Delhi Police carried out the operation jointly with Rajasthan Police and nabbed the accused on December 10 from Chandigarh. As per the police, the main accused, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, are also among those arrested. On Dec 5, Gogamedi was murdered by two shooters, Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathod, in the living room of his residence. One of the assailants, Naveen Shekhawat, was killed at Gogamedi's residence during the exchange of fire. Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was the National President of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena. Karni Sena activists held protests after the gruesome killing of Gogamedi.

TMC leaders including Mahua Moitra were detained after sitting on dharna at Krishi Bhawan. The Trinamool Congress had scheduled a meeting with the minister at the Krishi Bhavan, regarding the party's demand to release funds to West Bengal under the MGNREGA. Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Tuesday claimed that she waited for Trinamool Congress MPs in her office for over two hours. However, Trinamool Congress leaders claimed that Union minister had given them an appointment but did not meet them. The TMC delegation then sat on dharna, saying they won’t leave without meeting the minister. After some time, the delegation was forcibly removed from the site and detained.

Delhi Police raid NewsClick journalists' homes amid China funding row

Raids at different premises allegedly linked to NewsClick are underway at over 30 locations by Delhi Police. NewsClick journalists were seen with Delhi Police Special Cell officials. However, no arrest has been made as of now. Documents and electronics belonging to the persons associated with NewsClick were seized. Delhi High Court, on Aug 22, issued notice to NewsClick's Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha on a plea filed by Delhi Police's EOW. According to the FIR, a case was registered under UAPA and other IPC sections and an investigation was launched. During the probe, the sleuths gathered evidence indicating criminal acts. FIR states that accused persons, in conspiracy with their accomplices based abroad, devised a deceitful scheme to obtain, and receive funds. As per the same FIR, these funds were used to undertake activities as per instructions received from their foreign-based benefactors. Earlier, ED also moved the Delhi High Court against NewsClick and its editor-in-chief through a fresh application. ED’s application stated that it was a case of grave criminal conspiracy for paid news. Mumbai Police officials reached activist Teesta Setalvad's residence in the same matter. Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur reacted to the same and said, “search agencies are free to carry out investigations against wrongdoers”.

Delhi: Govt officer arrested for raping friend's daughter

Delhi Police detained government official on Aug 21 for allegedly raping his deceased friend’s minor daughter. According to the police, the accused has been continuously assaulting the minor between Oct 2020, Feb 2021. On August 13, an FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the IPC, POCSO Act. As per complaint, the accused sexually harassed her for several months between 2020, 2021.The minor girl disclosed that she got pregnant and was being forced to abort her pregnancy.
