Referring to Morgan Stanley’s ‘transformation’ report on India’s development in the last decade, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on June 01 in Delhi hailed India’s rapid growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Further crediting the country’s growth to its 3Ds- democracy, demography of young population and demand, the Union Minister said that India will emerge as a developed nation in the next 25 years. “It is an important day for Indian international image. This day will be remembered for long for India’s development pace under PM Modi. Today, India is entirely different than what it was in 2013. India has rapidly moved forward with its 3Ds; democracy, demography of young population and demand. In the next 25 years, India will emerge as a developed country,” Goyal said. Uzair Younus, a noted Pakistani policy expert, in a podcast, shared his experience of his recent visit to India. In the podcast channel, ‘Pakistan Experience’, Younus said that he was surprised by looking at the digital footprint in India. The Pakistani expert further added that his India visit felt like “visiting a future state for him”. Uzair Younus is the director of Pakistan Initiative at the Atlantic Council's South Asia Center. Uzair Younus was impressed by a betel shop owner who was offering QR code scanner to his customers. The Pak analyst further lambasted Pakistan for choosing politics over development. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stepped out of North Block and headed towards Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi as she gears up to present the 2023 Union Budget. The Finance Minister took a digital tablet, wrapped in a traditional ‘bahi-khata’ pouch. Sitharaman, India's first full-time woman Finance Minister, ditched the colonial legacy of Budget briefcase and carried a digital tablet, starting from 2019. Union budget 2023-24 will also be paperless like the previous ones. Prime Minister Modi, along with other cabinet ministers also arrived in the parliament ahead of the union budget 2023. This is the FMs fifth straight Budget presentation, which will also be the last for the current Narendra Modi government ahead of the 2024 general elections.
