Amid the NEET Re-exam row, a major legal showdown has erupted after Telegram challenged the Centre's decision to temporarily restrict access to the platform. The government says the move is necessary to stop fake paper leak claims, exam scams and misinformation targeting students. The NTA claims several Telegram channels were allegedly demanding money from candidates by falsely promising access to question papers. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has criticised the decision, arguing that millions of ordinary users are being punished despite the platform removing hundreds of suspicious channels.

While declining interim relief, the court issued notices to the Union Government and social media platform X, making it clear that no final decision would be taken before hearing their submissions. Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the CJP has emerged as one of India's fastest-growing satirical political movements online, attracting significant youth support. The court observed that some of the content posted by the account appeared "slightly offensive" and directed a review under the IT Rules before any further action.
