In a tragic incident, as many as 14 people were killed after a massive hoarding collapsed in Maharashtra’s Ghatkopar on May 13. As per NDRF, 74 people have been rescued alive from the spot as the recuse operation is underway. NDRF has been conducting rescue operations for the trapped since Monday evening when the incident occurred due to heavy rains, strong winds. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde rushed to the incident site and took stock of the rescue operation. He also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. Taking to ‘X’, President Droupadi Murmu, VP Jagdeep Dhankhar mourned the deaths and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.

Amid the voting for the fourth phase of elections, the controversy has erupted over BJP candidate Madhavi Latha’s visit to the polling station in Hyderabad. Actually after casting the vote, Madhavi Latha made a surprise visit to the polling station and was seen verifying the identities of some Hyderabad women in ‘burqa’ at a polling station. On being asked about video where she is seen checking IDs of voters, Madhavi Latha says, "I am a candidate. As per law candidate has the right to check the ID cards without the facemasks. I am not a man, I am a woman and with a lot of humbleness, I have only requested them - can I please see and verify with the ID cards. If somebody wants to make a big issue out of it, that means they are scared."On the other hand, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy alleged that BJP is simply trying to polarise Muslim votes to win but all these issues are going to help Asaduddin Owaisi. While speaking to ANI, Revanth Reddy said, “I have not seen (the video) but BJP is simply trying to polarise Muslim votes to win but all these issues are going to help Asaduddin Owaisi. It is not going to benefit BJP."
