Baramulla Drugs Crackdown: J&K Police launches major crackdown on Narco terror

In a massive crackdown by the Police against narco-terrorism in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir, a huge consignment has been busted by the police. The crackdown has happened at various locations in recent days from Uri along the Line of Control (LoC) to other parts of Baramulla district over the last few days. Pakistan-based handlers, as part of a conspiracy, are using smugglers to push narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir to get the younger generation addicted to drugs. Notably, 284 drug peddlers have been arrested and 34 notorious drug peddlers have been booked under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, (PIT-NDPS Act). The dedicated teams deployed by the Baramulla Police consist of experienced officers and undercover agents who will discreetly gather intelligence on the drug mafia's operations, networks, and supply chains.

Drugs worth 15,000 crores seized by NCB off Kochi coast originating from Pak

In what is claimed to be India’s biggest drug haul in terms of monetary value, NCB seized drugs worth 15,000 crores off the Kochi coast. The seizure was part of ‘Operation Samudragupt’ targeting maritime drug trafficking. 134 sacks of suspected Methamphetamine were recovered from a ship. As per Deputy Director-General of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the source of the drugs is Pakistan. One person, suspected to be a Pakistan national, was arrested by the agencies and an investigation is on.

Watch: Indian Coast Guard Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 1,526 Crore

According to an official press release, a joint operation by the DRI with Indian Coast Guard (ICG) codenamed Operation Khojbeen was launched on May 7. Under the said operation, Coast Guard ship Sujeet, with DRI officials onboard, maintained a close watch near the Exclusive Economic Zone. After several days of continuous search and monitoring amidst very rough seas, two suspected boats 'Prince' and 'Little Jesus' were noticed moving towards India. Both the Indian boats were intercepted by officers of ICG and DRI on May 18, off the coast of Lakshadweep Islands. A thorough search of both the boats was carried out at the Coast Guard District Headquarters at Kochi, which resulted in the recovery of 218 packets of 1 kg each of heroin, estimated to be around Rs 1,526 crore.

The special NDPS court on October 20 had rejected the bail applications of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and model Munmun Dhamecha after NCB presented ‘proof’ citing Aryan's WhatsApp chats. On October 21, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials reached Shah Rukh Khan’s Bandra residence ‘Mannat’ and also the house of actress Ananya Panday in connection with the cruise ship drugs bust case. The NCB team reached Khan's house hours after he visited his son Aryan at Arthur Road jail. As per NCB officials, the team was at Mannat for some documents related to the Aryan Khan case and was not carrying searches. Some phones, laptop and electronic devices have been seized from Ananya's residence, said NCB officials.
