The US would welcome any country interested in using its voice to further deter the Russian offensive in Ukraine and play a positive role in helping release hostages and defeating Hamas amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said at a press briefing on April 18. Reuters has reported that at least 40 people were killed and more than 100 were injured when as many as 5 gunmen dressed in camouflage clothing opened fire at people at a concert hall in Moscow on March 22. Armed attackers with automatic weapons targeted Moscow’s Crocus City Hall music venue. Flames leaped into the sky and plumes of black smoke rose above the venue after the deadly attack. It was not immediately clear who the gunmen were. The shooting began days after President Vladimir Putin was re-elected and as Russia is prosecuting a war with Ukraine. At least four people died after an Intercity Benapole Express train caught fire in Bangladesh’s Gopibagh. Quoting Dhaka Tribune, Reuters reported that the incident took place around 9:05 pm on Jan 05. At least five compartments of the train were set ablaze; Police suspect foul play. Notably, the Benapole Express Train Fire took place just two days before Bangladesh’s General Elections. As the Israel-Hamas Conflict continues for straight 88 days, Hamas Dy leader Saleh al-Arouri on Jan 02, was killed in an alleged Israeli drone strike in Beirut, reported The Times of Israel. Hamas terrorist group in the early hours of Jan 03, also confirmed the killing of its deputy commander in Lebanon. Meanwhile, condemning the alleged killing of Arouri, Lebanon's caretaker PM Najib Mikati, called it a "new Israeli crime". Mikati forewarned, saying Tel Aviv aims to drag Lebanon into the conflict. Lebanese terror group Hezbollah vowed to respond to alleged Israeli attack claiming its fighters are at heightened readiness to retaliate. Notably, at least 1,200 people were killed in Hamas' attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. The IDF in retaliation to the attack has continued to pound Hamas targets since the outbreak of the war.

The Israeli army on December 4 released footage showing what it said were ground and air operations against Hamas targets in Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas Conflict. In the video footage, Israeli soldiers could be seen carrying weapons and firing toward what they said were Hamas targets, and aerial footage showed destruction of what the Israeli army said was Hamas infrastructure. According to an Israeli army statement, the army entered a building where they encountered Hamas fighters and during the battle inside the building, two Israeli sergeants were killed and two other soldiers were injured. Israeli troops and tanks also pressed the ground campaign against Hamas militants in the south of the enclave after having largely gained control of the now-devastated north.

The United National Liberation Front has signed a peace agreement with the Government of India and Manipur Govt. The United National Liberation Front, or UNLF is a separatist insurgent group active in Manipur. The armed group has agreed to renounce violence and join mainstream, marking the end of a six-decade-long armed movement. The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, some members of UNLF. The return of UNLF to the mainstream will encourage other valley-based armed groups to participate in the peace process in due course. Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the UNLF peace deal.

After one and half months of the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israeli PM Netanyahu on Nov 26 entered war-torn Gaza. Netanyahu met with security forces inside the Gaza Strip and took the security briefing from IDF officials. The Israeli government on November 25 released a video of Israelis who were released from captivity in Gaza on November 24 arriving at the Hatzerim military base after they crossed into Israeli soil as part of the truce with Hamas. The first 13 Israeli hostages included sisters aged 2 and 4 and their mother, a 5-year-old girl and her mother, as well as elderly women. They were among around 240 people abducted by gunmen from the Islamist movement Hamas who rampaged through southern Israel on Oct. 7 leading to Israel-Hamas conflict. 10 Thais and one Filipino, who were taken captive at the same time, were also freed under a separate agreement, Qatari mediators said. After their release, hostages underwent initial medical checks and were taken to be reunited with their families.
