In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mumbaikars will no longer be able to witness the majestic elephants at Byculla Zoo. After the passing of Anarkali, the last remaining elephant, the city's only zoo has bid farewell to these gentle giants — and it seems this may be the final goodbye. For decades, the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Vanaspati Udyan has been home to elephants — creatures that have won the hearts of countless Mumbaikars. With the passing of 59-year-old Anarkali on November 10, an era has come to a close. And it’s not just the end of Anarkali’s life that is so difficult to accept, but the fact that no more elephants will ever step foot inside this zoo again. Anarkali and her companion, Laxmi, were the heart of Byculla Zoo for over four decades. They were more than just animals; they were a part of the city’s soul. Together, they brought joy, wonder, and awe to generations of children and families who visited the zoo.

In a tragic incident, a ferry boat with 80 passengers and five crew members onboard capsized near Elephanta Caves after a small speedboat crashed into the vessel, which was carrying more than 80 passengers. At least one passenger has been confirmed dead in the incident. The Indian Navy launched the search-and-rescue operation in coordination with the Coast Guard and Marine Police.

Smriti Irani speaking exclusively with ANI, slammed the Congress party over Gandhi family’s treatment of Maneka Gandhi, alleging that she was "stripped and assaulted" when she contested against Rajiv Gandhi from Amethi. Maneka Gandhi, the wife of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi was reportedly keen on contesting from her husband's seat Amethi after his death. In 1984, she contested from the seat against Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. However, she lost by a huge margin and ended up losing her deposit."When Maneka Gandhi contested against the Gandhi family from here (Amethi)...a young widow with a young child...literally she is stripped, she is assaulted. And the message goes in the region, that if we didn't leave her, how will we spare you?" Irani said. "This whole subset, that is so enamoured by the giggling Gandhis, they don't realize the muck, violence, torture, they are capable of. Beneath that sheen, is so much of dirt," she added.
