Maha Cabinet Expansion: Ajit Pawar gets finance, 9NCP leaders bag top portfolios

Taking a stand against the party leadership and holding hands with his own trusted leaders, Ajit Pawar decided to join hands with the BJP in the future and was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister in the Shinde-Fadnavis cabinet on July 2. Twelve days after nine MLAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) including Ajit Pawar were sworn in as ministers, the Maharashtra cabinet expansion has taken place and the issue of cabinet portfolio redistribution has finally been settled. The leaders of Ajit Pawar's group have got all the powerful portfolios. Ajit Pawar has been given the finance and planning portfolio despite the opposition of ministers and MLAs from the Shinde group, while Dhananjay Munde has been given the agriculture portfolio. He also talked about the increase in the trade deal between both the countries in the last twenty years.  While addressing the dignitaries, he said, “We have seen over the years a number of officials and business delegations visiting India and engaging with our business. I think the challenge for us today is how to expand, how to accelerate, how to expand the area of cooperation...that is the main objective of our meeting.”  “The trade deal between the Dominican Republic & India was $12 million before we established diplomatic relations 20 years ago. Today, it has almost reached billion dollars,” he added.
