On 24th of April, a gruesome murder took place near India Gate, New Delhi. A 25-year-old ice cream vendor named Prabhakar was stabbed to death during a fight near India Gate late Wednesday evening. A case of murder was registered under Section 302 IPC. The preliminary investigation suggests that Prabhat was selling ice cream when he had an argument with a customer over payment. The matter escalated and the accused stabbed Prabhat with a knife, before running away from the crime spot. Prabhat rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by the doctors. The police arrested the accused, who was on the run after identifying him with the assistance of CCTV cameras installed in nearby shops. He has been brought to the police station for further information.

BJP National President JP Nadda and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi visited the residence of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath in Hubbali on April 21. The people of Karnataka will not spare the current govt for appeasement politics...State govt should hand over the case to CBI if State Police is incapable of carrying out a probe. Hiremath has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident as he has less faith in the State police," said JP Nadda.

Niranjan Hiramath, father of the 24-year-old girl, who was stabbed to death by an unidentified person on a college campus in Hubbali, said that the authorities’ inquiry has not been up to the mark in the case and demanded a CBI Probe into the case. Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, Niranjan Hiremath said, "I have given the name of 8 people openly. They have not even caught one person. I am losing faith now. They are trying to divert my case. Give it to CBI if you cannot do it... The commissioner in this case is a lady, even then she is not taking a girl's murder seriously... She is working under some pressure... I demand the commissioner should be transferred for negligence in the case... I demand that the case should be given to CBI.”

In Maharashtra, the voting began in five seats of Nagpur, Ramtek (SC), Bhandara-Gondia, Chandrapur, and the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli-Chimur (ST). A storm hit the United Arab Emirates and Oman this week bringing record rainfall that flooded highways, inundated houses, grid-locked traffic and trapped people in their homes. At least 20 people were reported to have died in the deluge in Oman while another person was said to have died in floods in the UAE that closed government offices and schools for days. The storm had initially hit Oman on April 14 before it pounded the UAE on April 16, knocking out power and causing huge disruptions to flights as runways were turned into rivers. In the UAE, a record 254 millimetres (10 inches) of rainfall was recorded in Al Ain, a city bordering Oman. It was the largest ever in 24 hours since records started in 1949.
