At least 11 people have been killed while over 60 others were injured after a massive fire broke out inside a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Harda leading to several explosions, and triggering panic among locals in the nearby areas. Addressing the people, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that over 50 ambulances were sent to the spot and Minister Ranvendra Pratap Singh, DG Home and around 400 police officials also went to the accident site. The chief minister also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased while the injured will be given free treatment. PM Modi announced that Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and the injured will be given Rs 50,000.

More than 10 people lost their lives and around 50 sustained injuries following an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in the Bairagarh locality of Harda district, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday morning. At least nine persons died and two were injured on Tuesday in an explosion at an illegal firecracker unit in the Egra block of West Bengal’s East Medinipur district. SP of Medinipur said that ‘Illegal firecrackers were manufactured in the factory. Earlier, police had raided, seized & filed a case against the factory. 9 bodies were recovered & the search operation is on’. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered an inquiry by the Criminal Investigation Department into the incident. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding that the National Investigation Agency should look into the case.

A short circuit caused a fire in a firecracker shop in Nalasopara. After getting the information, the fire brigade team reached the spot. It’s being said that a Pigeon sitting on high tension wires above the shop caused the short circuit. The nearby firecracker shops managed to survive. Otherwise, there could have been a big incident.
