India on November 29 formed a high-level inquiry committee to address the security concerns highlighted by the US government. US Secretary of State also welcomed the probe panel set up by India and said “It’s good and appropriate”. India remained a strategic partner but US take alleged assassination plot ‘very seriously’, said White House spokesperson John Kirby. US Department of Justice on November 30 unsealed an indictment against an Indian national. US’ indictment was unsealed alleging murder-for-hire charges against Indian national Nikhil Gupta.

A robbery attempt was foiled on Monday after a Thane-based jewellery shop owner visited the shop at odd hours for some work and caught one of the accused red-handed. The incident took place at Chendani-Koliwada in the Kopri area. A gang of robbers had rented an adjacent to the jewellery shop on the pretext of setting up a farsan outlet but in six months the burglars drilled a hole in the shop's wall. On Monday around 1.30 pm, Dilip Kataria, owner of Bhawani Jewellers, visited the shop to collect something. When he opened the shop shutter, he was shocked to find a man inside the shop. He started shouting, nabbed the man and called the Thane Police Control room. Kopri cops rushed to the spot.
