Mann Ki Baat: "Meet Drone Didi" who was praised by PM Modi

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Sunita Devi from Sitapur, UP during ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on February 25. Prime Minister Modi lauded the efforts of Sunita on the phone call. Drone Didi is a landmark effort to empower women working in the agriculture sector. It involves the deployment of 15,000 drones and making 'drone didis' out of women—(SHGs) under the Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendras initiative. “I am very happy to speak to the PM... People think that women cannot do anything other than the household chores, but if a woman decides, she can do everything... We use drones to spray the fields that are large in area. It saves time.

Constructed at the cost of Rs.18,000 crores, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu was inaugurated today by PM Modi. An infrastructure marvel never seen before in India - now a reality for Mumbaikars. This 21.8-kilometre-long Mumbai Trans Harbour Link bridge would help cover the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes which otherwise takes 2 hours. More than 5000 workers and engineers worked every day for the completion of the project since work began in mid-2018. Many of the workers and engineers had to take an hour-long boat ride every day to their work site. MTHL inauguration will take place today in Mumbai by PM Narendra Modi. India Drone Strike: US reveals country behind attack on India-bound vessel

US Dept of Defense made a shocking claim and held Iran responsible for the India drone strike on the India-bound merchant vessel. Further, the Pentagon statement also claimed that it was the “seventh Iranian attack on commercial shipping since 2021”. A suspected drone attacked an India-bound ship in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on December 23. MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, commenced its voyage from UAE on Dec 19 and was expected to reach New Mangalore port on Dec 25. Soon after getting hit, the merchant vessel immediately caught fire; however, no casualties have been reported so far. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. Reacting sharply to it, the Indian Navy and ICG didn’t waste any time and charged towards the MV Chem Pluto for assistance. The vessel is likely to enter Mumbai and seek escort assistance due to steering issues. Indian Coast Guard Ship Vikram will be escorting the ship during its passage. The Indian Coast Guard Operations Centre is monitoring the situation closely.

India Drone Strike: Rajnath Singh vows ‘robust’ action against attackers

Days after, MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, was hit by a suspected drone strike in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on Dec 23, India has issued a stern warning to the attackers of the merchant vessels near the Indian sea borders. Defence Minister, in an event in Mumbai, openly said about the India drone strike that “they will hunt down the culprits from the bottom of the sea.” Moreover, Indian Navy also assured that they will take ‘robust action’ and will intensify monitoring. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. While, no one has claimed responsibility for the drone strike in the Arabian sea, US Central Command claimed that the drone attack was fired by Iran-backed Houthi militants. Houthi forces in Yemen have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming the attacks as revenge against Israel. However, the Indian Navy on Dec 24 clarified that it wasn’t an India-flagged vessel, as claimed by the US earlier. India, a strong advocate for the free movement of commercial shipping, is monitoring these attacks.

India Drone Strike: Navy unveils drone attack images on India-bound ship

Days after the drone attack on merchant vessel MV Chem Pluto on Dec 23, the vessel safely reached Mumbai on Dec 25. Soon the vessel reached Mumbai, latest images emerging from the vessel showed the damage caused by the drone attack. The merchant ship, MV Chem Pluto reached Mumbai for damage assessment, repair, and maintenance. Analysis was carried out by Indian Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Team followed by a joint investigation by various agencies. MV Chem Pluto, with 20 Indian and one Vietnamese crew member on Dec 23 caught fire after it was attacked by a suspected drone. The merchant vessel commenced its voyage from the UAE on Dec 19 and was bound for New Mangalore port with an arrival date of Dec 25. Soon after the India drone attack, the Indian Navy deployed multiple Guided Missile Destroyers in various areas of the Arabian Sea. Indian Navy deployed INS Mormugao, INS Kochi, and INS Kolkata to maintain deterrence. Meanwhile, MV Chem Pluto has been cleared for further operation by its company-in-charge in Mumbai. Houthi forces in Yemen have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming the attacks as revenge against Israel. Meanwhile, India, a strong advocate for the free movement of commercial shipping, is monitoring these attacks.

MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, was hit by a suspected drone strike in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on December 23. After getting hit, the merchant vessel immediately caught fire; however, no casualties have been reported so far in this India drone strike. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. After getting the information, the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard didn’t waste any time and charged towards the MV Chem Pluto for distress. Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Vikram and the Indian Navy’s warships in the vicinity moved towards the distressed vessel. The Indian Navy’s P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft and Indian Coast Guard Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft established communication with the distressed vessel MV Chem Pluto in no time.

Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Gripping footage reveals the struggle of workers

The rescue teams at the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site tried to establish contact with the trapped workers. In a major development, the first video of the workers trapped inside the tunnel has finally emerged. The video was captured by an Endoscopy Camera which was sent inside the rubble. Six-inch pipeline was used to send food items to the stranded workers. On November 20, the trapped workers finally had a hot meal after nine days. Rescuers were filling khichdi in cylindrical bottles which were sent to the workers. Notably, rescue operations have been going on for the last 10 days to evacuate 41 workers. Vertical drilling machines arrived at the collapse site on November 21 to continue rescue operations. On November 20, a team of international tunnelling experts assessed the site. They assured that the trapped men would be evacuated safely.

Israel-Hamas conflict: Israeli fighter claims life of Hamas' aerial system head

Israel Air Forces has killed the head of Hamas's Air Force Merad Abu Merad in the airstrike, informed IDF. The strike targeted a headquarters from which Hamas managed its aerial activity in the Gaza Strip. The IAF said that Merad Abu Merad "was largely responsible for directing terrorists during the massacre on Saturday. In separate strikes carried out overnight, the IAF said that it had struck dozens of sites belonging to Hamas’ commando forces. As per The Times of Israel, these commando forces led the infiltration into Israel on October 07. Earlier, The Israel Defence Forces on October 13 called for an immediate evacuation of Gaza. As per an IDF spokesperson, the death toll from the Hamas terror attacks on Israel has jumped to 1,300 leaving over 3,000 injured. Also, as the conflict escalated, the people of Gaza City packed their belongings and headed to South on Oct 13. The developments came after Israel’s military called for all civilians to relocate south within 24 hours.
