Bill Gates also said the rate of improvement in a lot of the key areas is very strong. "I'm certainly bullish," he said when asked whether he is bullish or bearish on India's future. Embarking on the ‘Mission South’ journey, PM Modi on Dec 02 laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Tiruchirappalli. PM Modi later proceeded to inaugurate the new terminal building at the Trichy airport. The total cost of the projects in Trichy was over 20,000 crore. Tiruchirappalli Int’l Airport is the 2nd largest airport in terms of international passenger traffic after Chennai in TN. Earlier, PM Modi took a walkthrough at the New Terminal Building of the Tiruchirappalli International Airport. PM Modi termed August 06 as a “landmark day” for the railways sector as he laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 stations via video conferencing. Noting the importance of Railways across India, ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ has been launched to redevelop 1309 stations. The redevelopment of 508 railway stations will be done at a cost of more than Rs 24,470 crores. Master Plans are being prepared for the development of these stations as ‘City Centres’, with proper integration of both sides of city. The integrated approach is driven by the holistic vision of the overall urban development of the city. These 508 stations are spread across 27 states and UTs, including 55 each in UP and Rajasthan, among others. The redevelopment will provide modern passenger amenities along with ensuring well-designed traffic circulation. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.
