Amid heavy rains in Mumbai, hundreds have gathered in Govandi, to protest against the horrific incident in Manipur, where two women were stripped, paraded and sexually assaulted by a mob. Some reports also claim that the women were left to the mob by the police themselves. This week, we look we look at how the Next Page library, run by the Next Page Community Foundation at Govandi’s Shivaji Nagar is providing a space for children to develop a habit for reading and explore books of different genres. Managed by young members of the community, the library offers accessibility and exposure to literature from India and abroad to neighbourhood kids, often coming from non-privileged socio-economic backgrounds.

Meet Saniya, Sadiya, and Taufiq from Mumbai's Govandi area who are rapping and beatboxing like pros. It was the NGO Apnalaya that recognized their talent and encouraged them to further their ambition. Apnalaya organizes cultural events where these kids and many others from economically weaker sections can showcase their talent.
