Batting first, the defending champions reached a competitive total of 276 for 3 on day one with Armaan Jaffer registering yet another ton under his name. He remained unbeaten on 175 at stumps. However, it was Satya Laksh Jain who started the innings in a watchful manner. So adamant was the opener on blocking everything that came his way that he didn’t even care to score off the loose deliveries. The lad had been busy representing Mumbai in the Under-16 tournament held in Kerala. He asserted that it was extremely important for him to play in his School’s final game in the tournament. He left his Mumbai team-mates behind and flew in alone to lead his side in the Harris Shield final. “Last couple of days has been absolutely crazy. I desperately wanted to play for Rizvi in the final and I’m glad I reached just in the nick of time,� said Akash who reached Mumbai on Monday evening while rest of his team members arrived yesterday. And he made his presence felt immediately as his gritty knock of 82 helped the defending champions to post a competitive total of 259 in their first innings of the Four-Day final being played at the Cricket Club of India, Churchgate.
