Lovely Professional University in Punjab’s Phagwara has been rocked by violent protests, with shocking videos from the campus showing vandalism, fire, clashes and students rushing towards hostels. The unrest spilled onto the Jalandhar-Phagwara National Highway, with NH-44 blocked as tensions escalated. Police moved in to clear the road, while several police vehicles were reportedly damaged. Videos circulating online also appear to show people taking food, gadgets and other items from shops inside the university’s Uni Mall. Amid the chaos, LPU has rejected the sexual-assault reports as false and baseless and says several claims circulating about the incident are rumours.

Fresh violence has erupted across Balochistan as the BLA claims a series of attacks targeting Pakistani security forces, including an alleged IED strike that destroyed a military vehicle and caused casualties. The BLA has claimed responsibility for fresh assaults on Pakistani security installations along the strategic Quetta-Taftan trade route, alleging that its fighters overran multiple checkpoints, seized weapons and destroyed military vehicles. The militant group has also released photographs and videos that it claims show its fighters attacking, capturing and destroying Pakistani security positions. The BLA says it has taken control of more than 14 security posts during an intensified month-long offensive across Balochistan. WATCH
