Cyclone Biparjoy intensifies in Gujarat, effects seen in Mumbai

High tidal waves were witnessed in the coastal regions of Gujarat on June 12. IMD has issued an Orange alert for Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts in view of the extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm “Biparjoy” over the east-central and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea. Notably, as per Met dept, Biparjoy will make landfall on Saurashtra & Kutch Coasts on June 15. Porbandar DM KD Lakhani talked about preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy. Meanwhile, Mumbai also witnessed high tides on June 12. The cause of this high tide is cyclone Biparjoy. The IMD issued a ‘thunderstorm’ alert for some districts in coastal Maharashtra

Intense Wet Spell Forecast Over Goa And Ghat Areas Of Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall for north Konkan, north central Maharashtra, east and west Vidarbha, Odisha, Gujarat, Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra. Relief is likely after August 12, it said. On Tuesday, IMD forecast isolated very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand Today. The monsoon has remained active over the country for the past week. According to the Met department, the monsoon trough will remain to the south of its normal position till the end of this week.

What Happened To IMD's Red Alert On Friday? Ask Mumbaikars

Scores of Mumbaikars who did not step out of their houses and even changed their travel plans following IMD's red alert on Friday were left red-faced. As the rain activities subsided on Friday, the weather bureau downgraded the rain alert from red to orange later during the day. On Thursday evening the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre - Mumbai issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for Friday, July 8. Meanwhile, a Red alert was issued for July 8 and July 9 in Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Satara. While the red alert was later downgraded to an orange alert during the day for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for other areas forecast remained the same.
