PSG’s Champions League win sparks clashes in Paris, police fire tear gas

Paris was rocked by wild celebrations and violent clashes on Saturday night after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a stunning 5-0 win over Inter Milan in Munich. Tens of thousands of jubilant fans packed the Champs-Elysees and gathered outside Parc des Princes, where around 50,000 supporters had watched the match live on big screens. Flares and fireworks lit up the night as crowds erupted in celebration. But the festivities soon spiraled out of control. Bus shelters were smashed, cars were set on fire, and clashes broke out between fans and riot police. Authorities said nearly 300 people were arrested during the unrest. Police deployed tear gas and used water cannons in an attempt to disperse the crowds, particularly near the Arc de Triomphe, where a group of fans tried to push through police barricades. The Champs-Elysees, initially filled with singing and flag-waving, turned into a tense battleground in the early hours of Sunday morning. The violence marred what had been a historic night for PSG, who claimed the biggest prize in European club football for the first time in the club's history.
