Taking a jibe at Congress’ top leadership, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 30 called it a failed leadership. "The leadership of the Congress has completely failed and you must be seeing that their people are continuously leaving the field. At some places, their state president is resigning and at some places their declared candidates are themselves withdrawing their candidature and joining the BJP and at some places, they are deliberately filling out the nomination papers incompletely. The people of this country know the reality of the leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party and INDI alliance and the people of this country will never allow their plans to be fulfilled,” said CM Yogi. “There cannot be a bigger lie than this. Everyone is very well aware of the history of Congress and other INDI alliance parties. The history of Congress has been of strangulating the Constitution made by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Amid Lok Sabha elections, an alleged sex scandal has stirred political controversy in Karnataka. Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged obscene video case involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Welcoming the SIT probe, JD(S) core committee chairman and senior leader GT Devegowda said that the party will call a meeting to discuss action on the issue. Amid the controversy, the BJP, which is an ally of JD(S) in Karnataka is smelling conspiracy over timing of the probe. A group of Congress workers held protest against the case. While Revanna is seeking a fresh term in the Lower House from Hassan as a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and is pitted against Congress' Shreyas Patel. India on April 29 lodged a strong protest against the ‘Pro-Khalistan’ slogans raised during the Khalsa Day celebration in Canada. Lodging a strong protest, MEA summoned the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi. India’s action came after loud chants of ‘Pro-Khalistan’ slogans were raised in the presence of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. The incident comes amid a sharp rise in anti-India sentiment in Canada in recent times. Reacting to the incident, MEA added that such incidents “illustrate political space given in Canada to separatism, extremism, violence”. Relations between India-Canada deteriorated after PM Trudeau alleged India’s role in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar. Following Trudeau’s allegation, India summoned the High Commissioner and expelled a senior diplomat. India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar earlier had said ‘Khalistani forces have been given a lot of space in Canadian politics’.

Slamming Congress, UP CM said that the people who are rejecting EVMs today are the same people who used to loot ballots. AAP cadres staged a ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ campaign near Laxmi Nagar in Delhi on April 27. The campaign was held against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
