Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to Tihar Jail for five days after a magistrate ordered judicial custody in connection with the Jantar Mantar protest row. Delhi Police allege that the two leaders entered the protest site by climbing locked gates and violated previously imposed peace bonds. The development comes after Jantar Mantar reportedly lost its designated protest venue status. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned the police action, asking whether unfurling the Tricolour was their fault. The case raises fresh questions about protest restrictions, public order and the right to demonstrate.

Delhi is on high alert ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) planned protest at Jantar Mantar, with YouTuber Dhruv Rathee reportedly detained in Gurugram and several political leaders also reportedly held. Delhi Police denied permission for the protest, which seeks the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
