Anurag Thakur meets wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshee Malikhh

Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malikkh, visited Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur’s residence on June 07 for a meeting. Earlier, the Union Minister through a tweet said that the Centre is willing to hold talks with the protesting wrestlers. Sakshee Malikkh, while speaking about the meet said that the proposal given by the government will be discussed with our seniors and supporters and then the decision will be taken. Commenting on the same, Mahavir Singh Phogat said that the Centre did not keep their previous promise but it’s good they are willing to have a discussion.

Murder of democracy: Vinesh Phogat as clash erupts between wrestlers and cops

High drama unfolded outside Jantar Mantar as Delhi police detained several wrestlers on May 28. The protesting wrestlers were stopped as they attempted to march towards the new Parliament building. A clash erupted between the wrestlers and security personnel while the police tried to stop the protestors from marching forward. Ace wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Malik and Bajrang Punia were among others who were detained by Delhi Police. The protestors wanted to march towards new Parliament and hold a women’s Maha Panchayat there. Meanwhile, Delhi Police said that protesting wrestlers breached security cordon while trying to move towards new Parliament building. Delhi police have also reportedly "removed" the makeshift tents placed by the protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. The protesters have been staging a sit-in at Jantar Mantar -- about 3 km from the Parliament complex since April 23. The wrestlers demand the resignation and arrest of the president of the wrestling federation. Brij Bhushan Sharan. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has been accused of sexually harassing young athletes, including a minor.

Farmers break through barricades to join protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar

s top wrestlers continue their protest against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh, farmers broke through police barricades as they joined the wrestlers at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. Indian wrestlers, including Olympic medalists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, have been protesting against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who has been accused of sexual harassment. The wrestlers have been staging a sit-in at Jantar Mantar since 23 April. Bajrang Punia reacted to the farmers’ involvement in the protests. Meanwhile, the wrestlers on May 07 held a candle-march at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. A large number of supporters walked with wrestlers demanding action against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
