Just weeks before the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained a significant injury on March 14, leading to her hospitalization. Rushed to SSKM Hospital by TMC GS Abhishek Banerjee, she bore a serious forehead wound. While TMC All India Trinamool Congress briefed her well-wishers about the incident, no official statement was released. Kunal Ghosh had foreseen a mishap at her residence. Despite this, an outpouring of support was witnessed from her followers outside the hospital. Meanwhile, leaders including Delhi CM Kejriwal, TN CM MK Stalin, WB BJP Prez Sukanta Majumdar, and others expressed their hopes for her swift recovery. Following her admission, she was transferred from Woodburn Block to the Trauma Care Centre. This incident echoes prior injuries sustained before the WB Legislative Assembly Elections in 2021 and the Panchayat Polls in 2023.
