Maha Shivratri 2024: Mahakaal aarti performed at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain

On the special occasion of Maha Shivratri 2024, a Bhasma Aarti and morning Aarti was performed at the Mahakaleshwar Temple located in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. Notably, on Mahashivratri, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped by devotees all across the country. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva married Maa Shakti, his divine consort, for a second time on this night. It is in celebration of their divine union that the day is celebrated as 'The Night of Lord Shiva'. While Lord Shiva signifies Purusha, which is mindfulness, Maa Parvati signifies Prakriti, which is nature. The union of this consciousness and energy promotes creation. Followers and devotees of Lord Shiva observe fast and special puja is performed in several temples across the world on the auspicious day. They also offer milk to the Shivalinga and pray for Moksha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30 made a surprise visit to a Ujjwala Yojana beneficiary’s home, and had tea at her residence during his Ayodhya tour. PM Modi interacted with the family members and Meera shared her experience of the same. In Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on December 30, the Prime Minister was welcomed by a cheerful crowd of people on either side of the road, waving at his motorcade. PM Modi in Ayodhya gave several infrastructural gifts to the locals. Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was inaugurated in Ayodhya by PM Narendra Modi in one such initiatives. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 30 praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating various projects in Ayodhya.

Nijjar Row: EAM S Jaishankar challenges Canadian PM Justin Trudeau

EAM Jaishankar talked tough on Nov 16 in London, UK as Canadian PM Trudeau’s reiterated allegations against India amid the Nijjar row. EAM Jaishankar categorically stated that no evidence has been provided from the Canadian side in the killing of Nijjar. “If you have reason to make such an allegation, please share the evidence with us,” said Jaishankar. During the conversation, EAM also pointed out ‘fault lines’ of Canadian politics and said it has given space to violent and extreme political opinions. Diplomatic relations between India and Canada soured after PM Trudeau’s allegations against India in killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar. However, recently, PM Justin Trudeau toned down and said ‘fight’ with India is not something Canada wants right now. But in the same speech, PM Trudeau stood by his allegations and accused New Delhi of violating the Vienna Convention by "kicking out" 40 diplomats.

Independent blogger claims China's involvement in Hardeep Nijjar's killing

On June 18, 2023, Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead at a Gurdwara’s parking lot in Surrey. Since then, the diplomatic tensions between India and Canada continued. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau levelled ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’ allegations against India. He alleged India’s involvement in killing K-Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar without proof. 19 days passed, Canada failed to provide evidence of India’s involvement in killing Hardeep Nijjar. Now, an Independent blogger Jennifer Zeng made a blockbuster claim on Hardeep Nijjar's killing. She alleged China’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Jennifer Zeng said that the agents of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) were involved in Nijjar’s death. The blogger attributed her allegations to Chinese writer Lao Deng, who according to her, lives in Canada now. She also said that China’s purpose was to frame India creating discord between India and the West. However, there has been no response to Zeng’s allegations, posted in the video on Oct 08 from Chinese foreign ministry.

Khalistan Extremism: Former UK government Advisor slams Western governments

Recently, the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami was prevented from entering a Gurudwara in Glasgow, Scotland. This comes amid a diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. A video of the incident has been doing rounds on the internet, where a man can be seen blocking Doraiswami from entering the Gurudwara. Colin Bloom, former advisor to UK government, said that the Khalistan extremism has escalated due to the inability of Western governments to do enough. Bloom stressed that both the British and Canadian governments should take more proactive measures to address this issue. India has flagged the issue with the UK Foreign Office and also the police, according to sources.

Giving a sharp reply to Canadian PM Trudeau’s allegations, Jaishankar talked about Indian diplomats being threatened there. Justin Trudeau claimed to have “credible allegations” of involvement of Indian agents in Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing. Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada’s Surrey in June 2023. A senior Indian diplomat was expelled by the Canadian government and India retaliated the same way.

US National Security advisor Jake Sullivan speaks on Indo-Canadian Nijjar row

Amid the ongoing Indo-Canadian Nijjar row, the US has been and will continue to remain in touch with Indians at high levels over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations that the Indian government was behind the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on September 21 (local time). On whether US President Joe Biden intends to speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue and whether the allegations could disrupt the US efforts to boost its ties with India, Sullivan said, "I am not going to get into the private diplomatic conversations that have either already happened or going to happen on this topic. Only to say that we have been and will be in contact with Indians at high levels on this issue. It is a matter of concern for us. It is something we take seriously,” said Jake Sullivan.
