A tragic helicopter crash near Gaurikund, Uttarakhand, on Sunday morning claimed seven lives, including a pilot and a two-year-old child. The aircraft was flying pilgrims from Kedarnath to Guptkashi when it lost contact minutes after takeoff. The wreckage was found shortly after, prompting immediate rescue operations. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow and confirmed that the AAIB will investigate the incident

Kedarnath decked with 13 quintals of flowers ahead of Friday’s opening

The Kedarnath Yatra 2025 is set to begin amid devotion and celebrations. The Kedarnath Temple has been beautifully decorated with 13 quintals of fresh flowers ahead of the idol's arrival on Thursday. The temple doors will open to devotees on Friday at 7 am. Helicopter services have started from Sonprayag to make the journey easier for pilgrims. The temple opening marks the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra – one of the most sacred pilgrimages in India –  to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Cloudbursts, landslides & other natural disasters affect Kedarnath Yatra Route

Heavy rains have caused the Mandakini river to flood, washing away roads and electric poles in Sonprayag and Gaurikund, which are on the way to the Kedarnath Yatra Route. Since Wednesday evening, at least six people have died in rain-related incidents across Uttarakhand. Many pilgrims and tourists are now stranded on the Sonprayag-Kedarnath road due to the severe weather. Cloudbursts, landslides and other natural disasters have affected Kedarnath Yatra Route. The situation is dire as the flooding has disrupted travel and caused significant damage in the region. Efforts are underway to help those affected and restore normalcy. Watch video for more.
