UK-based daily newspaper, The Guardian claimed, “Indian Govt ordered targeted killings in Pakistan”. However, the Ministry of External Affairs has vehemently rejected the claims made by The Guardian in its report. Denying the allegations, Ministry of External Affairs called it a “false and malicious anti-India propaganda”. After The Guardian’s reports, PM Modi’s 2019 Lok Sabha Election speech doing rounds on social media. On Mar 04, 2019, PM Modi slammed Pakistan for its continuous cross-border terrorism and said, “Hum Ghar me Gush ke Marenge”. Defence Expert KP Fabian has rejected The Guardian’s report and echoed MEA’s statement. However, he said that The Guardian’s report will benefit the ruling BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Moscow Shooting: Gunmen open fire at Moscow concert hall, killing at least 40

Reuters has reported that at least 40 people were killed and more than 100 were injured when as many as 5 gunmen dressed in camouflage clothing opened fire at people at a concert hall in Moscow on March 22. Armed attackers with automatic weapons targeted Moscow’s Crocus City Hall music venue. Flames leaped into the sky and plumes of black smoke rose above the venue after the deadly attack. It was not immediately clear who the gunmen were. The shooting began days after President Vladimir Putin was re-elected and as Russia is prosecuting a war with Ukraine. NSC coordinator for strategic communication of United States of America, John Kirby has expressed concern over the Moscow shooting incident.

EAM Jaishankar talked tough on Nov 16 in London, UK as Canadian PM Trudeau’s reiterated allegations against India amid the Nijjar row. EAM Jaishankar categorically stated that no evidence has been provided from the Canadian side in the killing of Nijjar. “If you have reason to make such an allegation, please share the evidence with us,” said Jaishankar. During the conversation, EAM also pointed out ‘fault lines’ of Canadian politics and said it has given space to violent and extreme political opinions. Diplomatic relations between India and Canada soured after PM Trudeau’s allegations against India in killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar. However, recently, PM Justin Trudeau toned down and said ‘fight’ with India is not something Canada wants right now. But in the same speech, PM Trudeau stood by his allegations and accused New Delhi of violating the Vienna Convention by "kicking out" 40 diplomats.

On June 18, 2023, Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead at a Gurdwara’s parking lot in Surrey. Since then, the diplomatic tensions between India and Canada continued. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau levelled ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’ allegations against India. He alleged India’s involvement in killing K-Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar without proof. 19 days passed, Canada failed to provide evidence of India’s involvement in killing Hardeep Nijjar. Now, an Independent blogger Jennifer Zeng made a blockbuster claim on Hardeep Nijjar's killing. She alleged China’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Jennifer Zeng said that the agents of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) were involved in Nijjar’s death. The blogger attributed her allegations to Chinese writer Lao Deng, who according to her, lives in Canada now. She also said that China’s purpose was to frame India creating discord between India and the West. However, there has been no response to Zeng’s allegations, posted in the video on Oct 08 from Chinese foreign ministry.

Indian envoy stopped from entering Glasgow Gurdwara

Amid row between India and Canada over killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar, Indian diplomat was heckled in Scotland. Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami was prevented from entering a Gurudwara in Glasgow. A video has been doing rounds on social media where a man was seen blocking Doraiswami from entering the Glasgow Gurudwara. Instead of getting into an argument, the Indian High Commissioner decided to leave in his car. The issue has been raised with the UK Foreign Office and also the police, according to sources. Sharply reacting to the incident, Sikh leaders from BJP slammed the pro-Khalistanis and said that anyone can enter a Gurdwara. This is not the first time that an Indian diplomat has faced such misbehavior. Earlier this year as well, Indian diplomats in Canada and UK have been openly threatened. UK High Commission was vandalized by Khalistani radicals in London in March. Notably, UK PM Rishi Sunak during his visit to India for G20 said he won’t tolerate extremism in the country

In 2018, an adult Tigress named Avni or T1 was shot dead in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra by a civilian hunter accompanied by a team of Forest Department officials. Indian forest officials labelled Avni as the most dangerous ‘man-eater’ in post-independent India. Even before Avni was killed, a score of campaigns by animal activists and wildlife lovers were launched to save the tigress. After Avni was shot dead, her killing was termed as a ‘cold-blooded murder’ by animal lovers. Dr. Sarita Subramaniam, Director, Earth Brigade Foundation and a Tiger activist had taken over as a petitioner for Avni in the High Court and Supreme Court. In her words, she filed several PILs and petitions to bring justice to Avni but as of July 2023, is still waiting for action.
