While speaking to the media on Kerala blasts, Kerala Health Minister Veena George informed that 3 people were killed and several people were severely injured. Soon after the Kerala blasts incident, the blame game began as the BJP held the Kerala Government responsible. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar held CM Vijayan responsible for the deadly incident. One person died and several more were injured after multiple explosions took place at a prayer meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Kalamassery area of Kerala's Kochi on the morning of October 29. The first explosion took place around 9 a.m. and multiple blasts followed thereafter, over the next hour. More than 2,000 people were attending the prayer meeting when the blasts took place. The incident came a day after the former chief of the terrorist group Hamas, Khaled Mashal, virtually addressed a pro-Palestine protest amid the Israeli military offensive in Gaza. Director General of Police Shaik Darvesh said that the preliminary investigation showed that an IED device was used for the explosion. Further investigations are going on in this Kerala blast incident.

In what is claimed to be India’s biggest drug haul in terms of monetary value, NCB seized drugs worth 15,000 crores off the Kochi coast. The seizure was part of ‘Operation Samudragupt’ targeting maritime drug trafficking. 134 sacks of suspected Methamphetamine were recovered from a ship. As per Deputy Director-General of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the source of the drugs is Pakistan. One person, suspected to be a Pakistan national, was arrested by the agencies and an investigation is on.

After 36 years of service, INS Magar, the oldest landing ship of the Indian Navy was decommissioned in Kochi recently. A ceremony was held to decommission the ship during which the ship's timeline and a special postage cover were released. The ship has been a vital asset to the Indian Navy for over 30 years and has been instrumental in various naval operations ranging from amphibious operations, Fleet deployments and HADR missions like the evacuation of civilians from the affected areas during the December 2004 Tsunami.

The Kochi Water Metro has started its commercial operations today. The service in the first route from High Court Water Metro Terminal and Vyppin Water Metro Terminal started. Kochi Water Metro, one of its kind project in the world connecting Kochi's islands to the mainland. The ticket rate for this route is Rs 20. The boat services will continue till 8 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the water metro on April 25th.
