PM Modi slams Sonia Gandhi-led Congress party as Lawyers move SC

Over 600 lawyers have written a letter to CJI DY Chandrachud expressing concerns against a “vested interest group”. Lawyers expressed serious concerns against the actions of a specific interest group aiming to undermine the judiciary's integrity. Reacting to lawyers’ concerns, PM Modi on March 28 took a dig at INC saying that “bullying others is vintage Congress culture”. Notably, the letter has been signed by top lawyers including senior advocate Harish Salve, SC Bar Association Prez Adish Aggarwala. As per lawyers, the group is putting pressure tactics to influence judicial outcomes, particularly in cases involving political figures.

An incident of firing was reported at Tis Hazari Court premises in Delhi on Wednesday. Police team reached the spot and found that an argument broke out between two groups of lawyers over some issue, after which they allegedly fired gunshots in the air. However, no injuries were reported, police said.
